Ginormous Update Part 1

Oh blog, I have neglected you. I have a ton of pictures to update, but I must admit...there was a lot of cheating. Lots and lots of cheating.

I've had a very busy summer, and, as a result, pictures sorta fell along the wayside. However, I had a few great trips this summer, so I'll fill in the (rather large) holes with those. But, rest assured, I intend to get back on the 365 train. Today.

Also, I'm not sure how much patience I have to do this, so I'll do this in more than one part. Here's part 1:

July 31: snuggle time

August 1: There was WATER in here! Usually, this "river" around the Rose Bowl looks like a concrete slab. I had to document it.

August 4: coffee

Some holes were filled in with multiple pictures from one day; the other holes will be filled in with a ridiculous amount of pictures from my trip. But, that's all I have patience for right now!

Baby Ian

This installment of pictures features, among other things, my new nephew, Ian. I missed a few days, so instead of faking it and taking make-up pictures, I'll just throw in some extra pictures of the new baby. Because he's just that cute.

July 10: I fell when I was running. This was my battle wound.


July 11: I've grown out of my hatred of all things nuts. I now love cashews. It's just all the other ones I don't like...

back in the game

Well, neglected blog. You need some pictures. The last picture I posted was from our last day at Disneyland (sigh). Since then, I've been walking around the neighborhood, posing with my husband, capturing my sleepy dog, spending a week at a camp with some junior highers in our youth group, and getting horribly, horribly sick. So - here's what my camera saw (along with a little bit of cheating).

June 16: A walk to the pharmacy turned into a photo shoot. Why not?


June 17: Vine overload!


June 18: A smaller vine. I like this one better.


June 19: Pasadena Chalk Festival. People drew chalk art all over the sidewalks in one of the main shopping/entertainment centers of Pasadena. Pretty cool stuff.


June 20: I wish I knew what this tree is called...


June 21: I didn't take this, but it was on my camera. And I really like it. Except my arm looks huge. Oh well.


June 22: sunshine through petals

June 23: Charlie, chilling as usual. This was also the day I took the video of Charlie's life, which you can find in my previous post. If you've ever wondered what it is a basset hound does all day, your answer is in that video.

June 24: baby grapes!


June 25: One of my favorite things ever - cherries. And Jeremy doesn't like them, which means I get the whole bag to myself!

June 26: In case you doubted, Charlie really does lay around a lot.


June 27: Welcome to Camp Dunamis. I spent a week in the mountains as a cabin counselor and worship team member for this camp for junior highers. I went with some kids from our youth group. The camp focused on racial reconciliation and cultural awareness. In my cabin, I had girls from the inner city, from the suburbs, from a Zuni reservation in New Mexico - you name it. It was an interesting week, to say the least - and difficult to hear some of the very very painful things some of the campers had gone through already in their 12 years of life...


June 28: Chalk art outside our cabin at camp. "I am..." was the theme of the camp - knowing who we are in Jesus Christ.


June 29: Still camp. This was the fabled ice cream shop that no one had ever seen open. But there are all the supplies in there, just tantalizing you...


June 30: trees in the mountains


July 1: More trees in the mountains. This was my favorite part of my week at camp - getting to steal away alone for awhile and explore the mountains. I absolutely love being in the mountains.


July 2: Last day at camp. This was my favorite spot in the camp itself - a random set of swings surrounded by trees and huge boulders. I came here a lot during my free moments alone.

July 3-8: Here's my cheating. As soon as I got home from camp, I came down with the stomach flu, in all its glory. So, I didn't take many pictures. And by "many" I mean "none." So, I took this lovely gem as a symbol of my week with the flu, because all I could eat for days was saltine crackers. (Oddly enough, I really like the way this one turned out...)


July 9: We bought a watermelon. I'm starting to wonder if that was a great idea...better get eating!

June 12: Donuts for youth group. Not actually from June 12, because June 12 was a Saturday - it was taken on June 13 - but sometimes it seems like there's so little time between our Friday and our Sunday youth meetings, so let's just use this as symbolism.


June 13: Believe it or not, these are from the desert garden at the Huntington Gardens. Way to go, desert. You break those stereotypes.
